12 Days of Fitness-Deck the halls

With Christmas right around the corner, I’ve been spending some time decorating the apartment. This year I am going “big” with a tree, wreaths, garland, candles, doormats and ornaments. It’s a lot of work but when it is all done my apartment is going to be beautiful.

As I was decorating this weekend, I would work for a little and then step back and admire the progress. Even though I had a vision of the finished product in mind, it was nice to see it taking shape. Each time I looked, I became more encouraged and motivated and jumped right back into the project. When it was all finished, the completed project was even more amazing then I envisioned.

“Decking the halls” of my apartment reminded me of the process of becoming fit. Just like decorating, getting in shape and reaching our fitness goals requires hard work, dedication and discipline.

At times the process can be exciting and fun as well as overwhelming and frustrating. It’s in times like these that we need to step back and take a look at how far we’ve come. Examine the progress that’s been made and be proud of your accomplishments. You may not be where you want to be….YET, but you are closer then you were. And before you know it, you’ll look and see a completed project that is even more amazing then you envisioned!
